Gas meter fire at two-story home on Heron Wood Drive

2398 Heron Wood Drive, Bloomfield Twp · Nov 2, 2026, 12:13 PM

Bloomfield Township fire crews, a tower, a chief and ambulances were sent to a reported residential structure fire at 2398 Heron Wood Drive after a neighbor called it in. The first crew found a large two-story home with fire at the outside corner that turned out to be coming from the gas line below the meter. Crews sprayed water on the exterior, brought in a water supply, and reported the interior fire was out, though the meter was still leaking gas. Power was shut off at the main breaker, crews measured a low gas reading in the basement and opened windows to ventilate, and the gas utility arrived on scene. The homeowner arrived later and the dog was reported in a second-floor bedroom; some units cleared the scene while others remained.
