Basement fire at North Cass Avenue home in Waterford

297 North Cass Avenue, Waterford · Nov 8, 2026, 10:03 AM

Waterford Regional Fire crews were sent to 297 North Cass Avenue for a possible chimney fire at a two-story home, where the one occupant had reportedly evacuated and two cats were said to be inside. Crews found the fire in the fireplace had been extinguished, but heat and smoke then pushed from the basement, and crews stretched lines to the rear door and searched the first and second floors. Command reported the fire out at about 10:32, and crews ventilated the basement and later reported it clear. Electric and gas service were shut off at the home, the utilities were requested, and some units cleared as crews shut down their hoselines.
